Wie ben ik?

My name is Renan Dijkinga. I am Dutch, however I was born and raised in Brazil. Back in my home country, I graduated in Architecture and Urban Planning. I moved to the Netherlands to start a masters in Landscape Architecture at AHK, in Amsterdam. I just finished the first year of the course and I can not wait for the next one.

I am working as an intern for GRUTS since February of 2020. My task is to develop an mobile installation, converting the story of Groene Maatpak, that will be displayed at the Landscaap Trienalle.

Wat was jouw stageopdracht?

During my research, I decided to based my concept on the spatial configuration that the Groene Maatpak provided, and also the transition between time, leading to the question of how will the Noord-Brabantse landscape look in the future? And how do we as society can be a part of it?

The installation aims to show the transition during time in certain areas of Noord Brabant, creating a space to play and debate about the landscape and the cultural heritage that we are going to leave for other generations, as cultural heritage.

The installation is composed by 16 blocks that represent the locations, and white box, where users will be able to sketch and post their ideals for the future.

Wat is jouw eindproduct?

The final product of my internship is the concept of this installation in relation with an online platform, where the project will have the possibility to keep bringing debates and ideas after Landschaptriënnale is over.

Wat vond je leuk aan je stage, wat heb je geleerd en wat ga je hier straks mee doen als je bent afgestudeerd?

Reflecting on the time I spent working with GRUTS, I can see a lot of personal and professional growth. I was able to realize a lot of research and fieldtrips, giving me the opportunity to explore my fascinations by myself, being a very interesting link with my study. I got the chance to better understand the dutch landscape, and social, cultural and historical layers. I believe that this has opened many possibilities for me, as a professional and a designer. For my future at the academy, I still would like to experience working in offices and studios of different scales to see where I will fit bit as a designer.

I am very grateful for the opportunity of working in this project and with GRUTS.
